Buscando guanábana ando yo
Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M), curated by Tania Pardo
September 28, 2024 - January 08, 2024
The title is inspired by the popular Rubén Blades song Buscando guayaba ando yo. The exhibition explores concepts related to movement and displacement, materialized in large-scale installations that attempt to recreate the experiences of migrants, or the circumstance of having been born in one place and living in another.
Buscando guanábana ando yo is my first solo exhibition in Madrid and brings together some of the central themes and formats of my work. These include the installation El Autobús, sculptures from Pica Pica, and the screening of the soap opera Desde el jardín (written and directed with Dafna Maimon and produced by Conglomerate), alongside paintings and site-specific murals created to engage with the space. These works aim to invite visitors into the process of building new places, where an aesthetic of displacement emerges from the transformation of the everyday.
